Lens:
Landscape lens, iris diaphragm to f32. Possibly made by Wray.

Construction:
Honduran mahogany, finger joints, square cornered leather bellows.

Format:
3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates held in double dark-slides.

Focusing:
Bellows, double extension rack and pinion focusing.

Movements:
Rising front, cross front, tilting back.

The Instanto is a conventional tailboard made by Underwood of Birmingham it was produced in sizes up to whole-plate, later the quarter-plate size was dropped. The quarter-plate model cost £2.4.6.
