Lens:
f7, 7" Zeiss Convertible Anastigmat, iris diaphragm to f64. Consisting: f12.5, 11 ½" and f12.5, 14" elements. Iris diaphragm with external pointer, 3 scales on removable ring. Serial no. 8214 8183 (c.1896).

Shutter:
None.

Construction:
Spanish mahogany with brass binding and fittings, dovetail joints. Black leather bellows with square corners.

Format:
3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates held in double dark-slides.

Focusing:
Bellows to 26" with combined lens. Double extension, rack and pinion movement to inner frame.

Attributes:
Spirit level. Reversing back. Tripod socket.

Notes:
Address on name plaque: 313 High Holborn. London.

With:
2 double dark-slides.; Lens cap.

This camera was introduced in the mid 1880s and was replaced by the Acme in 1889. The inner frame is hinged at the rear and folds when the camera is closed. The design and workmanship is very similar to Hare's 'New Patent Camera' and it is probable that this camera is also made by Hare. Similar cameras exist by Morley also named New Light.
