Lens:

Shutter:
Spring powered rotary sector type with pneumatic regulation. Speeds 1/2 - 1/100, T. The T setting is achieved by a short depress when set to 1/2.

Construction:
Leather covered metal body with leather bellows.

Format:
3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates held in single metal slides.

Focusing:
Bellows to 1.5 yards, scale to 2 yards. Two focusing positions: slides (marked DS), changing box or film packs (marked B&FP), this is the rear focusing position.

Attributes:
Reflecting view-finder. Depth-of-field scale.

Movements:
Rising front.

The Special was introduced in 1909, it was similar to the Ordinary Sibyl but allowed faster lenses to be fitted, f4.5 as against f6.3. The Special was available in quarter-plate or 3 ½" x 2 ½". Roll-film models were introduced in 1912. Zeiss or Ross-Zeiss lenses were fitted for each model. In 1910 the camera was improved by fitting a reflecting finder, rather than a direct-vision type, on the plate models.
