Auto-stop on film-advance. Film-advance lever sets the shutter. Film-advance and shutter inter-linked for double and blank exposure prevention.
Semi-automatic, selenium meter, scaled 9 - 36 DIN, 12 - 3200 ASA. The aperture is set by the meter after selecting the shutter speed. Manual over-ride. Filter compensation setting.

The Ultramatic operated in semi-automatic exposure mode, after the shutter speed was manually set the iris was automatically set, determined by the exposure meter. It had an instant return mirror and operated its lenses in fully automatic diaphragm (FAD) mode. The instant return mirror must have caused problems as it was dropped in the next model (Ultramatic CS). For automatic setting to work lenses with a yellow spot on the bayonet are required.
