The shutter is described as a T & I but the I setting is dependent on how quick the release lever is moved.

Stopit was a name used by Lancaster from the late 1890s for a range of cheap detective cameras using removable plates. In the British Journal Photographic Almanac (BJA) of 1899 a new range was announced as the 'M Stopit' these were similar to the ordinary Stopit but had a falling plate (magazine) mechanism. The following year, 1900, the cameras are listed as Stopit and had the magazine arrangement, the removable plate models were not listed. Three models were listed:

  • No. 1 Single finder, capacity for six plates.
  • No. 2 Focusing.
  • No. 3 Two finders, focusing and capacity for twelve plates.
Each model was available in quarter-plate and half-plate, the larger models being numbered 4, 5 and 6.

Over its lifetime the specification of the three models changed. From 1902 an exposure counter was added. In 1903 the No. 1 was optionally available for twelve plates. In 1904 a version with a rapid rectilinear lens was produced.
