Construction:
Leather covered wood body.

Format:
12, 3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates held in internal falling plate mechanism.

Focusing:
Bellows.

Attributes:
Two reflecting finders. Exposure counter. The front opens to give access to the shutter, the back and base open to load and unload the plates.

71 .

A.C. Jackson (Ilex Camera Works) was a leading supplier of falling-plate cameras, which were sold by retailers and distributors such as Houghton, Fallowfiled and Benetfink under their own brand names.

The Jackson patents include the shutter, later called the Ilex, and the changing mechanism. The catches to close the rear door of the camera are quite distinctive.
