The Tempophot was introduced in 1935, an improved model, named Tempiphot, was brought out the following year. That model was more sensitive and had provision for a plug-in amplification cell. A little later the T30/100 model Tempiphot was introduced, again being more sensitive.

The film speed is set on a scale around the calculator index which is carried on a small sector. As the reading is taken the required shutter speed is aligned with the needle by moving the sector, the index will then show the aperture to be used. A baffle swivels in front of the cell for readings in bright light.
