The gear train speed regulation was based on the design of the Ilex shutter of 1910. The early, dial-set, models outwardly resemble the Compound except for the lack of the delay cylinder. The shutter selection is on the left of the shutter on a small wheel. The look and operation changed in 1928 with the introduction of the Rim-set. It was then no longer necessary to set the operating mode.
