Shutter:
B&L Unicum shutter, speeded 1 - 1/100, B, T.

Construction:
Polished teak with brass fittings, black leather bellows.

Format:
6 ½" x 4 ¾" plates held in double dark-slides.

Focusing:
Bellows to 5'. Double extension with additional extension by using the front panel struts.

Attributes:
Brilliant view-finder. Circular spirit level. Reversing back. Wide-angle flap.

Identification:
Type 4 front standard lock. Type 3 infinity catch. Friction rising front. Early type front standard bolts. Tongue and groove lens panel. Type 1 back catch. "Patents" (slanted script). Type 7 name plaque.

Movements:
Rising front Tilting front.

Serial Number:
15799 .

With:

  • Hooded focusing screen.; 4 book-form double dark-slides (5 - 12).; Ensign cut-film holder.
  • Ensign Isochromatic screen, No 2B.; Focusing cloth.; Bulb release.; Tripod with Thornton-Pickard patent top.

This example of the Tropical Sanderson was made around 1908. The price was £12.0.0.

The lens is probably original but a larger lens flange has been fitted with a reducing ring to take the lens. This would have been to fit an alternative lens.
