The High Speed, introduced in 1899, was fitted with a focal plane shutter as well as the usual sector shutter fitted between the lens groups. A fast lens such as a Planar or Tessar was normally fitted, however, a long extension model was advertised from 1903 which was fitted with a Double Protar, this may have been in addition to the fast lens or, as in this example, as the primary lens. The focal plane shutter was made removable in 1905.

The rear door to the changing box carries the date of June 1905 along with a set of initials. The front shutter is fitted with the Protar lenses mounted inside the wider mount of a fast lens, only two diaphragm scales are present for the combined and rear group lenses. Two focusing scales are fitted for the combined and rear group lenses.
